Don't
be a victim of “phishing”
"Phishing" is
when criminals attempt to defraud consumers by sending
emails to thousands of random addresses, asking for personal
financial information. Sometimes, because the emails look
legitimate, they get a response and quickly take funds
from the victims bank account or credit line. These fraudulent
emails may appear to be from a trusted source, such as
credit union, bank, or other organization (Such as CUNA,
the NCUA, etc.), but are not. If you receive an email which
asks you for personal financial information, do
NOT respond .
If you think you may have responded
to a fraudulent email, please contact the credit union
at 323-505-2600 as soon as possible. If you are uncertain
whether an email is legitimate, do not respond, or click
on any links in the email. If you have questions about
whether an email you receive is legitimate, forward it
to memberfeedback@calstatela-fcu.org .
No legitimate organization
will EVER ask you for your credit/debit card number,
password or PIN via email.
